Carina Bruwer's versatility and tenacity has captured the imagination of people across the spectrum. Carina, voted one of Glamour mag's 12 "Women We Loved in 2005" in the Jan '06 issue, and recipient of a “Cosmo Awesome Woman 2004” Award, is a highly acclaimed, multi-award winning flautist and a record-breaking long distance open water swimmer; she also runs one of the largest entertainment agencies in South Africa, FIVE SEASONS ENTERTAINMENT.

As a swimmer Carina holds the female world record for the Straits of Gibraltar crossing (16km), the record for the fastest swim around Robben Island (11km), as well as for the 8.5km swim around Cape Point. She is the only South African woman, and one of only 4 swimmers ever, to cross the notorious waters of False Bay (35km). In July/August '05 she crossed the English Channel (36km) and was the female winner of the 26km International Swimming Crossing of the Toroneos Gulf in Greece within 8 days of each other. Carina, the first recipient of the Supersport Champion Awards, is also the only swimmer to have rounded both the southern-most (11km) and northern-most (16km) points of Africa; she became the first South African to round Cape Point (8km) and Cape Agulhas (11km), and is the only swimmer to have successfully rounded Danger Point (10,5km) near Gansbaai - the "White Shark Capital of the World".

Widely regarded as one as the finest young musicians in the country, Carina holds the degree BMus(Hons) cum laude. She is a versatile soloist known for seamlessly fusing classical and contemporary styles (jazz, Latin and ethnic) in her performances. Apart from performing as soloist, and with one of South Afirca's top entertainment acts STERLING EQ; she is also part of the 10 piece Afro-Cuban Latin band SALSA CANDELA, the Classical ACE QUARTET, and various ad hoc ensembles.
